Big Rock presents a little bit of country and a little bit of rock and roll with two ensembles that will light up the Big Rock stage during Desert Cancer’s Rock the Ride event, starting at noon.  The music kicks off with Voices Carrie, a vocal duo headed by direct descendant of the Lennon Sisters, Carrie Lennon-Wilson and guitarist/vocalist Patrick Mahon.

Following the dynamic duo and headlining Rock the Ride, is Grammy Award-winning Jann Browne and her band of troubadours. Selected by The California Country Music Association as Entertainer of the Year two years in a row, and nominated by the Academy of Country Music as Female Vocalist of the Year, Jann Browne is a shining star in the Southern California Americana roots tradition.

Rock the Ride will include the following:

  • Over 200 cars, street rods, classic rides and trucks
  • Live entertainment featuring local and Grammy Award-winning artists
  • Donate $20 and receive a special wristband valid for Happy Hour Specials all day

In April 2017, The Palm Springs Cruisin' Association donated $82,000 to Desert Cancer Foundation.

In the 15 years that the Dr. George Charity Car Show has been presented, Palm Springs Cruisin' Association has been able to donate over $770,000 to the Desert Cancer Foundation.

Every dollar raised translates to more than $10 in cancer care!

The show is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Sebastian George, who was a nationally prominent oncologist and co-founder of the Desert Cancer Foundation. Dr. George received his medical degree and later earned a fellowship at the University of Wisconsin.

Dr George started working at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, California in 1982. He became a highly regarded, well-liked oncologist and cancer researcher. He was known for his selfless dedication to helping those battling the ravages of cancer. Dr George often worked for free to help patients who could not afford medical care.

In addition to his work with the Desert Cancer Foundation he founded the first bone marrow transplant program in the Coachella Valley. His tragic death occurred in June 2002, when he was killed in a traffic accident.

This show is dedicated in his memory and supports his legacy at Desert Cancer Foundation!

Desert Cancer Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c) 3 organization dedicated to assisting residents in the Coachella Valley and surrounding communities who need financial assistance in obtaining screening, diagnosis, and treatment for cancer and allied diseases.
